Hello and welcome to the May Kre8tors blog hop. Our theme this month is floral.
On Friday May 8th we celebrated VE Day in Europe. I am not entirely certain that celebrate is the correct word, as we also see it as a time of remembrance and respect for those that lost their lives fighting for our freedom.
The day started with the Red Arrows flying over my house on their way to London for the VE Day flypast. Such an amazing sight. I am so lucky to live in a lovely market town with a wonderful sense of community, and just before the 2 minutes silence on my doorstep I could hear the ‘The Last Post’ being played in the distance. An emotional moment!
Unfortunately I couldn’t find any bunting during lockdown to decorate our home so I got to work die cutting my favourite Stampin’ Up! flower from Poppy Moments. A poppy wreath would be perfect to decorate my front porch!

I also added a patriotic touch of red, white and blue ribbon. These dies are so good to work with. For my wreath I distressed the cardstock, sprayed it with water and separated the cardstock layers to get a more realistic feel to the poppies. However the poppy looks lovely used simply on a card, as I have here on a ‘No Stamping’ card kit that I sent to my customers.
During the time spent making the poppies, I had a chance to reflect on the past and present. We are currently going through difficult times and often turn to heroes to help see us through. We cheer weekly for our amazing Health heroes, our keyworkers and of course the wonderful Colonel Thomas Moore who has raised so much money for the NHS and also raised our spirits!
We still have so much to be thankful for and for me the poppy not only symbolises remembrance but also hope for the future.
If I may, I would like to share a picture of my personal heroes from World War II, my Nan and Dziadzio (Grandad), Jadwiga and Adam Krzykowski.

They are pictured here after their Wedding ceremony in Italy. They met and fell in love following the Battle for Monte Cassino. Forever in our hearts and memories.

Thank you so much for hopping with me today, please leave me a comment if you enjoyed my projects.
